Fayette Williams, DDS, MD, FACS

Dr. Williams is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon practicing in Fort Worth, Texas.  His team performs immediate implants with fibula reconstructions regularly and have published on their technique.  Dr. Williams completed his DDS at the University of Tennessee and his MD and surgical residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Michigan. 

 

Dr. Williams is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and is one of the few oral surgeons in the USA who is fellowship-trained in both head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction.  In 2017 he obtained the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Head & Neck Oncology from the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Williams maintains both an academic and private practice and is actively involved in training residents from the University of Texas Southwestern/Parkland Memorial Hospital residency in Dallas. He is also the Program Director for the Fellowship in Maxillofacial Oncology & Reconstructive Surgery in Fort Worth, Texas.

Dr. Williams has authored multiple textbook chapters and journal articles on oral cancer and reconstruction, and continues to pursue clinical research activities with his residents and fellows. He has lectured nationally and internationally on the surgical reconstruction of cancer-related defects. He is a member of the Cancer Committee at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, and a member of the Head & Neck Tumor Board at John Peter Smith Hospital.

Dan Hammer, DDS, FACD

Dr. Hammer is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a certificate of added qualification in Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery.  After graduating dental school with high honors from the University of the Pacific, he completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.  Most recently, he completed his fellowship in Oral, Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. It was his time at Walter Reed caring for the numerous Wounded Warriors from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom that sparked his passion to advance maxillofacial restorative techniques and patient outcomes.  He is currently the Vice Chair and Director of Research in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NCMSD) and faculty at their residency program. 

 

Upon his arrival to NMCSD, he established the Maxillofacial Restorative Surgery Platform consisting of over 100 team members from 16 service lines and 10 departments with the mission to be the global leader in the development and delivery of comprehensive maxillofacial restoration of patients with unprecedented outcomes and treatment times. Within three months of establishment, the platform performed the first immediate jaw reconstruction with 3D printed teeth in the DOD and the State of California and the third in the United States.  

 

Dr. Hammer is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine and Volunteer Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of California, San Diego's Department of Otolaryngology and Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He loves living in San Diego with his wife, Chrissy, and his two daughters, Mackenzie and Ryleigh.

Michael Andersen, DDS, MS, FACP

Dr. Andersen is a board-certified Prosthodontist with fellowship certification in Oral Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics currently practicing at Naval Medical Center San Diego. Dr. Andersen graduated from dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and completed a GPR at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda. Upon graduation from residency in Prosthodontics at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, he received the Chief of the Dental Corps Award for Excellence presented to the top graduate across all residency programs for clinical and academic performance. Following residency, he achieved Board Certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics and completed fellowship training in Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Oral Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

 

Currently, Dr. Andersen is the Navy Specialty Leader for Dental Laboratory Services and directs the Area Dental Laboratory San Diego that services warfighters of all branches around the globe.  He is also the director of the dental service line for the Maxillofacial Restorative Surgery Platform at Naval Medical Center San Diego and recently received designation as an Associate Master Clinician.

 

Dr. Andersen is a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. He is passionate about improving quality of life for his patients and takes special interest in rehabilitation of patients with maxillofacial trauma, benign or malignant disease. He and his wife, Kat, love living in San Diego and have 3 wonderful children together, Taylor, Addie, and Robert.
